Kitchen lighting is one of the most important and misunderstood parts of a kitchen remodel

Homeowners often prioritize subtle color variations in cabinetry and countertops. However, they usually overlook the fact that minor kitchen lighting changes completely alter the appearance of those colors. Often these consumers have paid thousands of dollars more to select these specific colors, only to have that precise shade changed completely by the LED lighting hue from their recessed lighting.

For example, Main Line Kitchen Design has had customers select LED recessed lighting fixtures that offer nearly infinite shades of white.

By simply using an APP on their smartphone, homeowners can change kitchen lighting from bright white, to more natural yellow light, to a gray light or blue shade and so on. Each setting will completely change the look of white and off-white cabinetry and countertops.

Another common kitchen lighting misconception occurs when prospective remodelers select color pallets off the internet. Main Line Kitchen Design constantly gets asked what color the painted kitchens we display on our website or on Houzz.com are. If you like a color in a photo you see online that color changes not just from what filter a photographer might have used but every computer monitor is different. One monitor might show a green backsplash as blue and another monitor could show the same color as gray. While looking at styles and design features on line makes sense, selecting colors does not.

Some of the most expensive kitchens that our company sells are designed in custom cabinet brands with color matched paint.

If you are having a cabinet company paint a kitchen in a very specific custom paint color then kitchen lighting becomes just as important as the color you are selecting. Spending extra time researching lighting becomes essential. It makes little sense splurging on expensive cabinetry and not paying a few hundred dollars extra on lighting options.
